Thoughtful and serious, this is the last poem that Doug sent me after we both left St. Louis in 1969. He had an idea for our “next” musical, and this was the first poem he created for it. Many years later, I set it for the Ole Miss Concert Singers.

Based on a poem by my father, this piece calls for two choirs with some divisi in both. I envisage a large number of voices, perhaps several hundred. To perform this would be a huge undertaking, and the text is in German. It is easily the most dissonant piece I have written.

The text is another wonderful poem by Eugene Field. The middle section is rhythmically difficult.

This was written for the entertainment ensemble at the University of Mississippi, and would be enjoyable for Ole Miss "connected" folks.

Since printing costs, like everything else, have skyrocketed, some of my works are now costing me more to produce than I could reasonably sell them for, so I am making you this offer: For $100.00 I will send you a single copy of any one of my choral works along with with limited photocopy permission.
